In this episode, I speak with Jason Donaldson Head of Training and Operations at Power Speed Endurance (PSE). Jason is a Strength & Conditioning Coach who opened the first CrossFit™ affiliate in Western Australia in 2007. Jason has worked for Power Speed Endurance since 2011 coaching coaches and athletes, managing much of the PSE back-end and overseeing all training programs. Jason was a Police Officer for 20-years and has a special interest in the health and fitness of Tactical Athletes. Jason is a lifetime athlete having completed several half marathons, long distance trail races and off-road duathlons and played Australian Rules Football for 2 decades. Jason is passionate about health, movement and helping people to optimize their performance no matter their goal.
We discuss how to best approach fitness, the art of creating and assessing the right effort in a fitness program. Understanding when to apply the right amount of stress (define your objective 1st) to ensure the desired adaption and growth occurs. Discussing whether we should really try to train like Elite athletes, consider how you spend the other 22 hours in the day. The use of breathing protocols to warm up the vascular system properly to take on the stress of the workout, and how to down-regulate post work out.
